Seth Daub for Vice President 2021

Seth Daub

Candidate for 2021 Vice President

Principal of Catalina Elementary School in Orlando, Florida

"Pursuing the Purpose with Passion"

I have always considered myself a passionate and purposeful individual. I believe that I embody these traits in my current role as an elementary school principal in Orlando, Florida. These very same traits drive me in my pursuit of the role of Vice President of the National Association of Elementary School Principals. My passion for education guides me in all that I do, and I feel that it is imperative that I now take this passion to the next level, and use it to fulfill what I believe to be my purpose, which is an elected member of the board of directors within this great organization.

There are innumerable issues and challenges facing education, more now than ever before. Many of these issues and challenges not only affect education as a whole, but also affect the professional organizations like ours that represent and advocate on behalf of education. If elected as your Vice President, I would use my role to address these issues, with the ultimate goal always being that of successful resolution.

One such issue is continuing to narrow the achievement gap and equity. If it is true what they say, that “education is the great equalizer” then it is up to us as the leaders in education to ensure that we are advocating unceasingly for all of our students to have equal access to what they need to be successful. If elected, along with my colleagues, I would use my role to combat and overcome the barriers that currently exist which contribute to unequal access, and are ultimately responsible for the gap in achievement.

Another issue that exists is that of educators and, in some instances, even education leaders feeling discouraged and unheard. We know that we are the voice for our students and our communities, but it is becoming increasingly obvious, now more so than ever, that we need a voice for our profession that is just as loud and just as strong as the voice that we provide for our students. I currently use my voice as President of the Florida Association of School Administrators within my state, but I believe it is time to take that voice to the national level.

Those are just a couple of the issues that we face, but can undoubtedly conquer if we work together with a common outcome in mind. That outcome is student success, and I am confident that, if elected as your Vice President, I can help to lead us towards that outcome with positive results. NAESP has played an integral role in my ongoing development as an educational leader, and it would be a distinct honor to serve as your Vice President, then President-Elect and finally President working with colleagues from across our country (and ultimately throughout the world) to support my passion—educating students!
