“NAESP is disappointed in the administration’s proposed FY 2020 Budget, which would cut key education programs that are critical to principals, schools, and students. The budget would eliminate Title II, Part A, the only federal funding source dedicated to the preparation, training, and support of teachers and principals, including professional development opportunities. Further, the proposal calls for eliminating the Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grant program, which provides federal support for schools to ensure safe and welcoming learning environments for all students. We look forward to working with the administration to ensure elementary and middle-level principals have the necessary resources to lead successful learning communities that adequately prepare students for life and career.”
