Susan Szachowicz
Dr. Susan Szachowicz, a Senior Fellow with the Successful Practices Network, firmly believes in the ideology: “High expectations, high standards – no excuses.” In her career at Brockton High School in Massachusetts, she led this large (4,300 students) urban high school from being ranked as one of the lowest performing in the state to being recognized as a National Model School receiving awards and accolades for student achievement. Prior to being principal, she was the associate principal, department chair, and history teacher at Brockton High. After she retired as Brockton High’s principal, she has continued to work with schools and districts on school improvement focused on literacy. Szachowicz is the author of Transforming Brockton High School: High Standards, High Expectations, No Excuses, published in 2013 by the International Center for Leadership in Education.
