Kevin Armstrong

Dr. Kevin Armstrong has served as executive principal of DuPont Hadley Middle Prep for seven years. His dedicated and data-driven approach to closing the achievement gap has resulted in a 7.7 percent increase in math proficiency, and the school has seen an increase of 25 percent in the number of minority students enrolled in advanced math courses. These achievements made the school the recipient of an award for achieving the largest ethnic group performance gap closure for the 2014-15 school year. To improve writing scores, Armstrong worked with his Leadership Team to create a writing across curricula program, integrating writing development into each subject area. This program has already seen student improvement. Armstrong was also instrumental in implementing the One Cart, One Class pilot program, obtaining a laptop cart for each core curriculum classroom and ensuring that all students develop the technological skills they need to succeed. Always dedicated to professional development for himself and his staff, Armstrong worked to become accepted into the prestigious Governor’s Academy for School Leadership, where he collaborates with the best and brightest assistant principals in the state of Tennessee, mentors an assistant principal in his school district, participates in development programs designed to increase school leadership capacity, and has most recently signed on as an adjunct professor at Lipscomb University. Dr. Armstrong holds a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University and M.Ed. and Ed. D. degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University.
