As a teacher, assistant principal, and then principal for six years, Christopher Andrade has been a guiding force at Christ Lutheran School for over two decades. Under his leadership, Christ Lutheran students have consistently scored above average on the SAT-10 in all grade levels and academic disciplines with a general increase in academic achievement through eighth grade. On a national scale, Christ Lutheran’s test scores are in the top ten percent in reading and mathematics. Andrade has developed and fostered a professional learning community at Christ Lutheran, allowing for in-depth collaboration among faculty in developing strategies to support all learners. Each year Title II funds are utilized to send staff to conferences focusing on instructional techniques that lead to high student achievement as well as local and regional seminars and courses. Enhancements to Christ Lutheran School under Andrade’s tenure include the implementation of a successful Pre-K curriculum, the addition of an enriching music program, and financing upgraded classrooms, playgrounds, playing fields, and security systems. Andrade has a compassionate approach to student engagement. In one case, he visited the home of a student who refused to go to school because of being bullied, drawing the student back by talking with him on his front porch and pledging his support. He holds a B.A. from California State Polytechnic University and a M.Ed. from Point Loma Nazarene University.
