The U.S. Department of Education has declared October this year’s Connected Educator Month, a four-week exploration of key educational issues through online communities and networks. Connected Educator Month (CEM) is dedicated to broadening and deepening educators’ engagement with technology, as well as bringing online community and education leaders together to move towards a more fully connected and collaborative profession.

Last year’s inaugural CEM involved more than 170 organizations (including NAESP) with over 450 events and activities for more than 4 million participants worldwide.

All CEM events are online and they’re all free. How do you and your staff get involved? The first step is sign up, which can be done in seconds. Once you’re signed up, you’ll get regular updates about:

  • Interactive webinars and other real-time events—many headlined by education, technology, and community leaders—that you can register to attend;
  • Ongoing discussions designed to generate practical take-aways to move the field forward on key education issues such as common core, personalized learning, STEM education, literacy, and 21st century classroom management;
  • Contests, showcases, open houses, guided tours, launches, exhibits, collaborative projects, hands-on demonstrations, and other special activities; and
  • Resources ranging from starter kits, maps, courses, and more to help educators become more connected.

Connected Educator Month is dedicated to the proposition that no teacher should be an island, not when there’s so much more strength in numbers. Explore the CEM website for more information and resources.
