Principals Advocate for School Equity

March 2017, Volume 40, Issue 7

Vouchers and school choice, unconscious bias, and rights for special education students. These are among the issues the nation faces as the 115th Session of Congress begins, new initiatives are being advanced by the Trump Administration, and states and local districts implement the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

It is in this context, and under the heading of Equity, Equality, and Social Justice, that NAESP is hosting its annual National Leaders Conference (NLC) in Washington, D.C., March 26-29.

The programming and powerful speakers will deliver important messages for principals on equity, as well as roll out its advocacy agenda for a stronger investment in students and public schools. The advocacy portion of the conference will be conducted in collaboration with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
