Awards program promotes cross-discipline recognition for educators.
Alexandria, VA—April 24, 2012—The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) is proud to announce that NAESP Executive Director Gail Connelly has joined the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences and has agreed to serve as a member of the Bammy Awards Board of Governors. NAESP is pleased to support the Bammy Awards, which identifies and acknowledges excellence throughout the education field.
“NAESP is delighted to join this esteemed initiative to provide much needed recognition for educators, who are our nation’s unsung heroes,” Connelly said.
The awards program was created in response to the tremendous national pressure on educators and education leaders to improve student outcomes, and the intense scrutiny that today’s educators face as a result. The Bammy Awards honor excellence throughout the education field—from teachers, principals, and superintendents, to school nurses, advocates, education journalists, parents, and parent groups. The Awards aim to elevate education successes in the public eye and raise the voices of the many undervalued and unrecognized people who are making a difference.
Two honors will be presented in every category—the Bammy Award (selected by the Academy) and the Educator’s Voice Award (selected by online, public voting). The Educator’s Voice honorees will be announced in June. The Bammy Awards will be presented in the fall in Washington, D.C.
Nominations may be submitted for the Educator’s Voice Awards at www.bammyawards.org.
The Academy is comprised of a Board of Governors, Council of Peers and associate members and includes an array of leading educators, education leaders and professors, journalists, activists, visionaries and pioneers. For more information, visit www.bammyawards.org.
