Federal Update: Budget Cuts, Blow-by-Blow

Although, both parties agree that something must be done to avoid the automatic, across-the-board spending cuts scheduled to occur in January 2013, they differ greatly on which approach to take. Republicans rebuff revenue increases while aiming to protect defense programs. Democrats would rather see a balanced approach of both targeted spending reductions and revenue increases.
