Don’t Miss Jeans & Jerseys and Service Day at the 2013 Conference

The 2013 NAESP National Conference is just around the corner, July 11-13! Make sure your plans for Baltimore include two special events: Community Service Day and Jeans and Jerseys.
Join more than 100 volunteers for Community Service Day on Wednesday, July 10. Educators from around the country will work together to build a new inclusive playground for the over 650 students of John Rurah Elementary/Middle School, a Title I school located in southeast Baltimore.
“Our parents have been advocating for a new playground for years,” says John Rurah principal Mary Donnelly. “The new playground will allow our students with disabilities to improve social skills and gross/fine motor skills. In addition, students without disabilities who are playing alongside those with disabilities will gain awareness that students who are different from them still like to play like they do.”
The annual Community Service Day is sponsored by Landscape Structures.
Relax after a day of service at Jeans and Jerseys, a fundraiser for the NAESP Foundation. On Wednesday, July 10, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., enjoy an evening of entertainment in downtown Baltimore. Come decked in your favorite team’s jersey and experience live music, food and drinks, a silent auction, and book signing by best-selling author James Patterson.
The event will be held at the prestigious Center Club in the heart of Baltimore, which offers panoramic views of the city’s Inner Harbor.
All proceeds from Jeans and Jerseys will benefit the Foundation’s student leadership programs. Tickets are $50 each, or purchase a package of eight group tickets for $40 a piece. For more information, call 800-386-2377 or email foundation@naesp.org.
