Connect the Dots

Just in time for summer planning, NAESP is pleased to launch a new portal to help Pre-K–8 principals and other educators develop quality afterschool and summer learning programs that will increase opportunities for all students.

Here’s four resources on the portal that will help you jumpstart your planning:

  1. A special magazine supplement to Principal magazine will help you connect the dots between afterschool and summer programming and in-school learning. Use the magazine as a planning guide with your leadership team.
  2. Watch best practice videos to learn how principals across the nation are leveraging afterschool and summer programs. Gain insight on programs that enhance academic opportunities, build social-emotional skills, and strengthen communities.
  3. Link to resources—by state. The portal features an interactive map of links to resources, funding information, and standards.
  4. A survey report: Beyond the Classroom: What Principals Want When It Comes to Afterschool and Summer Learning.” More than 1,200 principals shared what they know and think about afterschool programs. Learn elementary principals’ perspectives on out of school time programming.

Because learning doesn’t end with the school day—or year—take the time now to access resources and information to help inform and support your afterschool and summer initiatives. From getting started to finding funding to improving quality, the portal is a one-stop-shop to becoming an expert on learning beyond the school day.

*The development of this portal was generously funded by The Mott Foundation.
