Bulletin Board: Support

Thank You, NAESP Volunteers!

Membership in NAESP opens the door for school leaders to volunteer on committees and advisory boards that help guide the association’s vision and mission. Members—principals and assistant principals—are in schools every day, working toward success for the entire school community while overcoming challenges that only school leaders know how to tackle. Who better to ensure that NAESP resources, programs, and events are hitting the mark for the evolving school leader?

We couldn’t do what we do at NAESP without member input. If you’re looking for ways to boost your leadership and effect change in the principal profession, these volunteer opportunities might be for you:

  • Leadership and governance: The NAESP Board of Directors features president, president-elect, and vice president officer positions; zone directors representing all nine NAESP zones; and directors at-large minority and middle-level. The Board works to establish goals, provide fiscal oversight, and make policy decisions on behalf of the association.
  • State leaders: One way the national association stays connected with elementary and middle-level principals is through state representatives who serve as liaisons between NAESP and state affiliates.
  • Committees: NAESP has volunteer opportunities on three committees—Membership, Nominating, and Resolutions—that help deliver a highly valued member experience, uphold the high standards of the NAESP Board of Directors election, and shape policy, respectively.
  • Advisers: The Professional Learning Advisory Committee gives volunteers a chance to work with other school leaders to gain feedback and insight into what NAESP members need. The Editorial Advisory Board advises NAESP’s Communication team to help ensure that the content and resources NAESP provides are useful and meaningful to members.
