Be among the first to acquire copies of Excuse Me I’m Trying to Read!, written by Mary Jo Amani and illustrated by Lehla Eldridge, and The Young Healer, by Frank N. McMillan III—winners of the NAESP Foundation’s First Annual National Children’s Book of the Year Award Contest.

The books, published by Charlesbridge Publishing, are endorsed by the NAESP Foundation, and feature the NAESP Foundation Children’s Book Award emblem.

Excuse Me I’m Trying to Read!, won in the picture book category, and McMillan’s book, The Young Healer, was selected for the chapter book category. These books were chosen from among more than 1,000 manuscript entries submitted. Manuscripts were reviewed and selected by a committee of editors and educators who judged submissions based on content, originality, and age-appropriateness.

Both titles are available in the NAESP/NPRC Bookstore in the Expo Hall. The authors will be signing copies of their books on Thursday, March 22 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 4:15 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 23 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday, March 24 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. To order after the conference, call the NAESP Foundation at 800-386-2377.
