Laura Tate

Laura Tate became the Principal at Edgewood Elementary School in July 2019. For the previous four years, she served as the Assistant Principal of Edgewood Elementary and was selected as the Assistant Principal of the Year for the State of Alabama by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) in 2018.

Tate has been in elementary education for 18 years where she has worked as a special education administrator and teacher.  Prior to joining Edgewood Elementary, Tate served as a special education teacher at Hall-Kent Elementary School.

Tate received her bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in 2001. She went on to earn her master’s degree, educational administration certificate, and an educational specialist degree in education administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is currently a doctoral candidate at Samford University.
