“National Letter to An Elder Day”

Every year on February 26th, National Letter to an Elder Day encourages putting pen to paper and writing to an elder you know. The day serves to remind that loved ones enjoy hearing from us and that a simple letter brightens their day. So, our Officers decided that we would write these letters and then deliver them to a local nursing home. Officers showed examples of letters that we wished to collect (full of color, drawing, neat, a generic letter to Dear Friend,) and examples of what we didn’t want (messy painted or colored letters, lots of glitter, eligible handwriting). Because this falls on February 26th, our officers told members about this in the January meeting, so that they would have ample time to complete the project. The StuCo advisor delivered the letters, at the end of the day, on February 26th.

“Garth House – Change for Children Penny Drive”

Each student council member decorated a gallon size jug that would be placed in each classroom for students to place coins in and then donated to the Garth House organization. Officers decided on and created incentives to keep students motivated to bring in their coins.
