“Meals on Wheels”

Our goal was to find a new and effective way we could give back to the members of our community. Our student council took a day to volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Tulsa, OK. We started off touring their brand-new facility that was fully funded by the City of Tulsa. Once we finished the tour, we headed out on the bus with a route of 12 residents in the Tulsa area. We packed up bags and boxes of food and were on our way! As we arrived at each residence, we had students sort out the meals, deliver them to the door and interact with the residents of the home. We finished our route within three hours and got to see a dozen friendly smiles!

“Huskies Have a Heart”

Our student council was able to plan a week’s worth of Valentine’s activities that helped raise money for a school employee who fell ill, was placed in a medical facility unable to work, and just recently passed away. As a student council, we were able to execute a quick call-to-action for our entire school that contributed to one of our own.

We decided to plan a week of Valentine’s themed activities that would ultimately attract attention to our daily poll that collected change in exchange for a vote and a sucker. We took a three-day poll for the whole school to cast their vote for Team Single Pringle or Team Cosmic Crush. Our student council opened the poll before and after school for students and staff members to vote. In just three days, with polls opened for a total of three hours, we raised $266.73 for the staff member in need of our help.
