What to Add to This Year’s Classroom Supply List
Families are often eager to support their child’s classroom, but some might not always know what’s most helpful beyond the basics.

Although the school year is just winding down, many educators and administrators are preparing for the new school year and finalizing supply lists to send home to families over the summer. These lists are a great way to make sure students start the year with what they need. Families are often eager to support their child’s classroom, but some might not always know what’s most helpful beyond the basics. Encouraging your educators to include a few suggested items can go a long way toward building a well-stocked, ready-to-learn environment.
Here are a few smart additions for educators to consider:
Tissues
One of the most-used items in any classroom are tissues. It never hurts to have a few extra boxes on hand, especially for the start of cold and flu season.
Cleaning Supplies
Easy-to-use disinfecting sprays or wipes can help keep illness-causing germs at bay. Lysol® Disinfecting Wipes make a great choice for classroom clean-up, as they can both take on tough messes and kill 99.9 percent of viruses and germs when used as directed.
Hand Soap and Paper Towels
For classrooms with sinks, these items tend to go quickly. A few extra bottles or rolls can help keep healthy handwashing routines flowing smoothly.
Extra Basics
Pencils, markers, glue sticks, and notebook paper are always in demand, especially as the year goes on. While parents will stock up these supplies for their children, consider including an optional “community supplies” list for families to contribute if they’re able.
Small Prizes or Rewards
Fun items like stickers, erasers, or bookmarks are great for classroom incentives. If your school allows it, families might be happy to help stock a small prize bin for their classrooms.
