In her nine-year career as an administrator, Ryan Daniel, Ed.D., has proven herself a skillful instructional leader dedicated to educating the whole child and supporting the success of the whole teacher. Despite being in a single-administrator leadership role at both schools where she has served, Daniel maintains a highly visible presence on campus and works tirelessly to close gaps in achievement, communication, and connection in the school community. To bridge the gap between home and school, Daniel has cultivated a range of partnerships and initiatives, including Fort Foote’s Parent Academy Workshops and Parent University. Featuring events like “Homework Without Tears,” these programs create spaces to empower parents with strategies to support and scaffold their children’s learning, ultimately deepening engagement and improving student outcomes. The school has also reduced the achievement gap between English learner and non-English learner students through professional study and integration of language acquisition principles. The downstream benefits of these efforts are clear. Under Daniel’s leadership, Fort Foote was named a Maryland Top 50 School for increasing achievement on the Reading Maryland Comprehensive Assessment. Daniel credits this feat to a strong commitment to instructional and literacy excellence, brought to life by collaborative planning and the strategic use of data to drive instruction. Daniel holds an Ed.D. from Bowie State University, a master’s degree from Trinity Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University.
