Citizenship

“Weekly Nursing Home Visits”

We visit a local nursing home each week where 4 members can sign up. We go to the store to pick up the items needed including ice creams, syrups, sprinkles, bowls, napkins and spoons. We have a designated time and space that we meet the seniors and they are always ready to see the students. The students walk around the room and take individual orders, make the requested sundae to the seniors liking and then bring it to them. 

Community Service

“Love Bags for Haiti”

Our goal was to collect small gift items to fill a drawstring bag and ship down to a school in Haiti. We had a local organization donate 400 drawstring bags for our project. We had students collect specific items such as coloring books, crayons, balls, dolls, puzzles, playdough, jump ropes, etc. StuCo members collected these items on the last day and organized a item specific assembly line in 90 minutes. Students then came over and had the opportunity to choose items to fill the bag to bless a student in Haiti. A local organization flew the bags to Haiti.
