Morgan Abraham’s mission as a principal is to build a school community where students are excited to learn and teachers are excited to teach. As leader of Sudduth Elementary, Abraham has done just that, greatly expanding enrollment and reducing student grade-level retention during her five-year tenure. Abraham understands the importance of early childhood education, which is why, while leading this pre-K through first grade school, her focus has remained steadfast on data-driven instructional practices that are developmentally appropriate and meet the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of young learners. Abraham led the implementation, for example, of a new, multi-sensory phonics structure that has significantly strengthened literacy foundations for Sudduth students. Abraham has taken a hands-on approach to supporting families of students during her tenure by maintaining consistent communication and a high degree of visibility with them and school partnership engagements. She has also grown the school’s sought-after pre-K program by 250 percent. Today, Abraham works in partnership with nearby Mississippi State University professors and students who are drawn to Sudduth’s engaging classrooms, research-based strategies, and strong learning outcomes. Abraham holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University, an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University, an Ed.S. from Delta State University in Educational Administration and Supervision, and an Ed.D. in P-12 Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
