NAESP Statement on the Introduction of the Loan Forgiveness for Educators Act

This legislation aims to address teacher shortages and expand loan forgiveness opportunities for school leaders and early childhood educators.

NAESP has issued the following statement regarding the introduction of the Loan Forgiveness for Educators Act:

“NAESP applauds the introduction of the Loan Forgiveness for Educators Act, which will incentivize educators to work in high-need schools and help address the teacher shortage,” said L. Earl Franks, Ed.D., CAE. “We are especially pleased that the bill would expand existing loan forgiveness opportunities to early childhood educators and school building leaders. NAESP commends Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and Rep. Teresa Fernandez (D-NM) for crafting a targeted approach that rewards committed, well-prepared educators who support our most underserved students. We are proud to endorse this legislation and look forward to working with congressional leaders to enact it into law.”
