Glen L. Stacho
Drake Elementary School
Strongsville City School District
Strongsville, Ohio

Glen Stacho is principal of Drake Elementary—the top-performing and largest elementary school in its district, serving 439 K-6 students. When he arrived there six years ago, one of his first tasks was to maximize the potential of the school’s design, which features an open “pod” arrangement with few self-contained classrooms. Working with a team of staff, Stacho created a floor plan better suited for student learning. His leadership is service-oriented; he has engaged Drake in multiple programs including Kids Hope USA, Blessings in a Backpack, F.A.S.T. (Families and Schools Together), and local food drives. His service-learning program allows sixth graders to apply and get hired for a “job” at the school (e.g., first grade helper or recycling team member). Stacho understands the importance of technology and has supported his teachers by providing interactive whiteboards, Chromebooks, and an online instructional planning program. It is clear that he supports all learners by working with Teacher-Based teams and serving as the district facilitator for the Intervention Assistance Team, Multi-Factored Evaluation, and Individual Education Plan meetings. At Drake, Stacho also maintains the district's magnet program for gifted and talented students. Under his leadership, Drake has achieved nine out of nine standards in Ohio state ratings. Stacho holds a B.S. from Miami University as well as an M.Ed. and a Principal License from Baldwin-Wallace University.
