Robin Pinder
Homestead Elementary School
Cumberland County School District
Crossville, Tennessee

Robin Pinder became principal of Homestead Elementary School in 2007. Since then, she has helped her large population of Pre-K-8 students to fulfill a “legacy of excellence” with her strong work ethic and ability to build a solid support system. From 2010 to 2012, Homestead was honored as a Tennessee Reward School for ranking in the top five percent of all schools in the state for academic achievement. While she works hard to incorporate new assessment standards, Pinder values all forms of student progress. “She has never seemed to be driven by test scores, but by the desire that each of her students and staff reach their greatest potential,” says parent Doug Parkey. Pinder has developed partnerships with parents and community members to guarantee the well-being of every student. At monthly “Bulldog Backers” meetings, she is able to discuss news and data with parents, teachers, students, and community members. The GEMs (Going the Extra Mile) and HOPE (Helping Our Pupils Excel) groups consist of over 100 volunteers who help with events, fundraising, tutoring, instruction, and grant writing. For over a decade, Pinder has presented on various topics at the International Reading Association conference. She is a member of the National Christian Counselors Association and the Adult Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She holds a B.S., an M.A., and a Specialist Degree in Education from Tennessee Technological University.
