Anna M. Parrill
Dr. Lewis F. Soule School
Salem School District
Salem, New Hampshire

In 2006, Anna Parrill became the principal of Dr. Lewis F. Soule School, a small K-5 school in Salem, New Hampshire. Since then, she has achieved some of the most significant accomplishments of her career while maintaining a positive environment where students feel safe, motivated, and challenged. From 2013 to 2014, Parrill facilitated a 9-million-dollar, four-phase renovation for Soule. To carry out the project successfully, she collaborated with planning teams, parents, and community members. More importantly, she ensured that there was minimal impact on daily instructional routines. Other projects of Parrill's include a new professional development plan, which is conveniently built into regular school hours, and the adoption of the Workshop Instructional Model, a framework that is now being used across the district. She also supports parents and families by offering on-site, adult ESOL classes—a program that is currently expanding to at least one other elementary school—and engages them with the Soule “Fantastic Fitness” program. She is known for being open, and Parrill's efforts have clearly been effective. She serves on the Planning Committee for NHASP's Principal Network Meetings. Parrill holds a B.A. from Wittenberg University, an M.A. from the University of Vermont, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from the University of New Hampshire.
