For the past twelve years, David Keim has been principal of Fred W. Miller Elementary, a third through fifth grade school located in the suburbs of Boston. For the past year, however, he has also served as the interim principal at Sam Placentino Elementary, a nearby Pre-K through second grade school. His offer to serve as the leader for a combined total of over 1300 students and 150 staff has not only impressed his colleagues, but the entire Holliston community. Keim empowers his teachers and administrative teams by ensuring that each person's role is respected and that all opinions are valued. His desire to help others has also made him naturally successful. Keim holds monthly drives for the local food pantry and has his students create holiday gift bags for senior citizens. With the help of the Miller community, he recently obtained a grant from the Community Preservation Committee for the installment of a handicap-accessible playground. Every year, Keim devotes at least one week of his vacation to a mission trip with his local youth group. He is an Instructor for Teachers Training Teachers and a member of the Massachusetts Elementary School Principal Association (MESPA) Professional Development Committee. From 2013 to 2014, he was the president of MESPA. Keim holds a B.S. from Bucknell Univeristy and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Lesley College.
