Notice of Proposed NAESP Bylaws Amendments
Historically, the NAESP Bylaws are subject to an overall review every 10 years with the most recent review concluding this year.
Inspired by the rapidly changing environment surrounding all non-profit and membership organizations, the 2011 NAESP Board of Directors called for a Bylaws Review Committee to be formed. In the fall of 2011, then President Rob Monson appointed former NAESP President Barbara Chester to chair the committee.
Representatives from all nine of NAESP's geographical zones comprised the committee which conducted an extensive review, and in February 2013 presented the NAESP Board of Directors with proposed amendments to the Bylaws.
The Board of Directors convened prior to the 2013 National Leaders Conference to consider the recommended amendments. The Board of Directors offered additional amendments and ultimately approved the proposed amendments to the Bylaws.
The rationale for the proposed changes was presented to the attendees at the February 2013 National Leaders Conference.
Subsequently, the proposed amendments to the Bylaws were presented to the NAESP Parliamentarian and the NAESP attorney for review. Each offered largely technical corrections to the amendments and ultimately the Board of Directors approved the final version on June 3, 2013.
Current NAESP Bylaws require distribution of any proposed amendment to the Bylaws to the membership no later than 30 days prior to the opening of the Delegate Assembly.
