NAESP Platform 2018-2019

Elementary and middle-level principals work tirelessly on behalf of our nation’s students. Principals’ perspectives on how Pre-K–8 education should function is summarized in the NAESP Platform. NAESP’s advocacy staff works to shape Congress’ and the U.S. Department of Education’s policies based on the belief statements included in the platform document. The platform is reviewed and updated annually and submitted to the NAESP Board of Directors to review in March.

The NAESP Resolutions Committee meets every November to update the statements to accurately reflect the realities of your profession. The results of the 2018-2019 committee’s diligent work were changes (edits, combinations, and deletions) to 14 resolutions.

Member feedback is critical to the resolution process. Review the statements and offer comments and suggestions via email by Feb. 10, 2019.

The timeline to review the proposed resolution is as follows:

  • On Feb. 20, 2019, at 4 p.m. ET, the Resolutions Committee will hold an open hearing conference call where any NAESP member may discuss the modification of any proposed resolution. To participate, call 866-290-3067 and enter conference code 02489.
  • The Resolutions Committee will review member feedback between Feb. 21, 2019, and Feb. 26, 2019, and determine whether further revisions are necessary.
  • One week later, on Feb. 27, 2019, at 4 p.m. ET, NAESP members may join a committee conference call to learn the its decisions on the proposed changes presented during the open hearning conference call. To participate, call 866-290-3067 and enter conference code 02489.

The NAESP Board of Directors will review the proposed and recommended changes and inform the general assembly of the resolutions and the board's actions at the National Leaders Conference March 17-21, 2019.
