Each application will be reviewed by a panel of judges using a standard set of criteria and assigned an overall rating. The highest ranked applications will be designated as finalists. Finalists may be asked to submit a copy of their full dissertation for judges to consider in making their final determination of this year’s dissertation award winner. In the event of a tie, the tied candidates will be subjected to another ranking procedure with all other candidates eliminated. NAESP reserves the right to present no award should there be no candidate application that merits it.
Judges are nominated by NAESP’s Executive Director or her designee based on their experience and background in school leadership at the elementary and/or middle levels.
The dissertation award winner will be announced no later than June 15, 2013. A press release announcing the award winner and their dissertation findings will be forwarded to the winner’s local newspaper and posted on NAESP’s website and communication networks.
The award winner may choose to submit an article on their dissertation’s findings and conclusions to be considered for publication in NAESP’s award-winning Principal magazine. However, the article would need to meet NAESP’s publication criteria; there is no guarantee of publication.
NAESP reserves the right to disseminate each winner’s dissertation abstract, findings, and/or conclusions through its web site and publications as appropriate.
