Alexandria, VA—May 19, 2010—Mark White, principal of Josephine Hintgen Elementary School in La Crosse, Wisconsin, was recently elected to the 15-person board of directors of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) in a nationwide election. Gail Connelly, NAESP’s executive director, announced the results from the Association’s headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.
White begins his three-year term as director of Zone 6 on July 1, representing elementary and middle school principals in Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
“I consider myself fortunate to be a member of the greatest, most life-changing profession in the world,” White said. “As a principal for the past 22 years, I have dedicated myself to helping shape teachers and students toward becoming the best they can be.”
White has been a member of NAESP since 1988, serving on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act taskforce (2005-2006) and the Delegate Assembly (2002-2004, 2006-2009), and serving as a state representative since 2006. He has been a member of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators since 1988, serving on the executive committee (2001-2005) and as president (2003-2004). He has been affiliated with the Association of La Crosse School Administrators since 1990.
White began his education career in 1982 as a teacher at Ripon Middle School and taught at Longfellow Middle School from 1984 to 1988. He took the post of principal at Alma Center-Humbird-Merrillan Elementary school in 1988, moving in 1990 to his current position as principal of Josephine Hintgen Elementary School.
He is the Supervisor of PreK Programming for the School District of La Crosse, and he served as the supervisor of K-5 Social Studies and Grants for the School District of La Crosse from 2002-2009.
White earned a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a M.S. in educational administration from Winona State University.
